Open XVID4 File

XVID4 is the name of a codec developed as free software for video playback under the MPEG-4 ASP Part 2 standard and is developed by volunteer programmers from all over the world.

MPEG-4 Part 2 uses Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) as a video compression technique similar to previous standards such as MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. As is well known, MPEG4 is part of the ISO / ITU standards. Most compression standards focus on the bit frame and decoder, leaving the encoder design free to independent implementations.

The most remarkable features of the standard are support for adaptive quantization, interlaced video, motion compensation, use of B frames, among others.
