Open VMO File
The VMO extension is usual for two types of applications known so far, which we will see below:
Siemens Voice
In this first case, the VMO file is used as an audio file created by the voice recorder of some Siemens mobile phones.
VMO stands for Voice Memo Output, and stores the audio in a proprietary format that can only be played on the device, thus shutting out standard desktop audio players.
However, the VMO file can be converted to WAV format using the vmo2wav software package.
Virtools Media
In this second and last case, the VMO file is a web publishing format for Virtools, a Flash-like program used to create dynamic 3D multimedia content for web pages.
More about Virtools
Virtools is a software to create 3D applications in real time, which does not mean that it is a 3D model development tool in itself.
Virtools was developed by the company of the same name founded by Bertrand de La Chapelle and Bertrand Duplat, and acquired by Dassault Systmes in 2005.
It allows the creation of applications for the web and applications for deep dives in environments such as caves, it also works as a virtual reality center or metaverse.
The VMO file can contain graphics, video, sound, and user interface actions.
VMO files are embedded in web pages and can be played with the 3DVIA Player web browser plug-in.
Virtools, unlike Flash, did not become a commercial standard, however it is widely used in the design and browser industries.
