Open VDI File

A VDI format and extension file is a type of virtual disk image file, which is used to create disk images, either of the virtual disk or the logical disk, and is associated with an Oracle VirtualBox virtual machine, which is the owner of the format.

The VDI file can also refer to disc images stored on CDs, DVDs, and other optical discs, used by third-party programs.

Also, the VDI file is used to copy, create, or restore the contents of the disk drive to a new virtual machine.

Oracle VM VirtualBox is an open source desktop virtualization program, which can be mounted as a hard disk on Mac, Windows and Unix platforms. VirtualBox was initially owned by Sun Microsystems, and later purchased by Oracle.

To open and operate on a VDI file, it is necessary to have one of the following software packages:
