Open NST File
An NST file extension is primarily associated with two types of files - the NST Data Visualization file type, and the NetOp scripting files. Each usage requires different ways to open and use these files.
NST Data Visualization Files
The NST file format stands for 'NASTRAN Data File', which is a high-fidelity finite element analysis (FEA) application. Created by NASA, NASTRAN (an acronym for NASA Structural Analysis) is used in the aerospace industry to engineer products in a virtual environment. NST files are thus used to visualize analysis data in a graphical environment. Popular tools like Autodesk Nastran In-CAD and MSC Nastran are most commonly used to open NST files and analyze their data.
NetOp Scripting Files
The term 'NST' also refers to NetOp Script files, which are used to automate tasks in the NetOp Remote Control software. In this context, NST files contain script code that is executed by the NetOp Scripting engine. To view and edit these files, one would require the NetOp Remote Control software or a simple text editor like Notepad.
NST File Important Information
The two types of NST files discussed above are not interchangeable. An NST file created in Autodesk Nastran cannot be opened using NetOp Remote Control, and vice-versa. Therefore, it is essential to know the source of an NST extension file before attempting to open it. Understanding the file's origin and the software or application it pertains to will allow you to identify the appropriate tool for opening the file and effectively utilizing its content.
