Open METADATA-NEVER-INDEX File

A METADATA_NEVER_INDEX file is a hidden file created on hard drives, flash drives, and other volumes used with Mac OS X. It is created during the operating system install or factory formatting process.

It prevents Spotlight, Apple's built-in search tool, from indexing a directory or an entire volume.

It is important to note that METADATA_NEVER_INDEX files are blank files that are not intended to be opened by the user.

However, if you need to find them, they are usually located in the root directory or at the top level of a disk.

You should know that if you delete the file, then you will give Mac OS Spotlight an access to index the folder or volume which may slow it down considerably.
